Check ‘em (Updated)
That's right. Check the forums. Figured I left Mr. Bale up there long enough without an explanation as to what he is pointing at. (And if you failed to figure it out, you sir/ma'am are a failure)
So far 10 registered users (5 of which belong to retrorpg staff). But im rather suprised at the level of activity so far with just the few people participating.
So go ahead, Check 'em.
Contest #3
For those of you paying attention to the site, your treat is another contest!
Don't worry, this one is easy.
15 reasons why Uniracers is the best racing game ever.
Your prize: the SNES copy of Uniracers.
You have 15 days. GO! (Ends Aug 31)
Whichever one we like the most wins.
Rules: one submision per email address. (Rofl, like we can really enforce a per person rule on the Internet)
No sob stories. I don't care if your little brother has cancer and his dying wish is to play a 20 year old game. Your entry will be laughed at and deleted.
Bribes of less than $100 will laughed at.
Reasons that are nothing but Bike names, trick names or combo responses (I.E: "Im dizzy!") will not only be laughed at but your lack of creative ability will too be roffled at.
Type it in you lazy bum!
More site changes/additions
Patient Bear tells me the archive section is looking a little cluttered, so that will be condensed soon into years, instead of months.
Also, as mentioned in show 20 (that has not yet been released because I am lazy), we will be adding FAQs for all kinds of garbage related to retro gaming. If you have a FAQ you would like to submit, email it to us and provided it checks out (not ripped from Gamefaqs, or plagiarized out of an instruction manual), it will be hosted and you will be credited. Speaking of Gamefaqs, Walkthroughs will NOT be provided here. We feel Gamefaqs does a good enough job, we would just be pissing in the wind trying to compete with that.
Save states. It was mentioned in show 20, and may have been mentioned in a blog post earlier, but we are reconsidering our position on hosting and making available save states. Zophar's Domain has a HUGE collection of save states. Again, pissing in the wind. (We may just ask for permission to link to Zophar).
Also mentioned in the podcast that has yet to be released, Mother 3 will be the next game after Pokemon (And there was much rejoicing).
Contest! Prizes for the winner(s) will be a combo of any of the items (exact number of prizes still TBD). From console games (post NES), T-Shirts, Posters, Or other assorted knick knacks that Amanda, Don, or Myself wish to be rid of. Im guessing 3-4 items will go to the winner
Derek
Show 20 recorded!
Our longest show ever (unedited: 2 hours!) so editing will be a real chore.
Since i'm so bad at keeping schedules, it will be done when its done.
Thought I’d share…
I came across this video on YouTube. It's a music video about Pokemon.

Let me know what you think. For me, it was like I wrote the song and just didn't know it or something, because it's exactly the way I think of it.

Contest #2
This is not the official contest announcement. That will come at the end of episode #20.
The contest will not officially start until show #20 airs.
Consider yourself lucky. Those of you who read the site get a head start.
Details details details....
tl;dr version:
make us an intro song or skit!
explained:
Since the last contest was so successful, it is now time for another.
This one requires creative and technical ability.
Make us an intro song. The song can be in any format, but must pertain to our show and the games involved (rpgs). The song can be in any style, (rap, rock, blues, etc.). The song can use existing content (taking an instrumental and adding vocals, or replacing existing vocals). movie soundtracks, or TV intros (a-team, power rangers, etc).
Examples:
Example 1
Example 2 (I recommend not looking at the movie and just listening to the audio)
Example 5
Example 6 (The Instance Podcast. Created by Randy Jordan, Narrated by Scott Fletcher)
I hope that's enough to get the idea. Either come up with your own, or use something that exists, but parody/alter it to be an intro related to the podcast and rpgs.
As far as creating your own, be creative, use game sound effects, game music, take 30 songs and mash them together to get something else then add lyrics or a skit to it. Take samples from our previous shows and throw them in there as well.
Now, another thing, for those that may not have the technical ability, but can still put their ideas to paper, submit whatever lyrics, and the song it goes with. One of us will record it and that will be your submission. (There are restrictions. Anything more than just applying lyrics may be refused. Everything else will be handled case by case).
Prizes are TBD. Nothing you can profit from, but probably along the lines of games, t-shirts, posters, and other stupid items. (Expect multiple prizes for the winner(s))
Winners: Variable. Depends on how good the entry is. If 10 people participate, and we found 3 to be phenomenal, there may be 3 winners. (reminder, Prizes TBD. multiple winners may result in fewer prizes).
The contest will run for 60 days starting the date show #20 airs. We understand this could be a bit time consuming, hence the long period.
This is an unofficial annoucement. So details and rules may change.
And PLEASE e-mail us with questions. So that we may avoid confusion that came up with the last contest.

Much ado about How-to’s
This may have already been mentioned in the blog somewhere, but i am lazy and do not feel like finding it, if it exists.
This is something that has been planned for some time, but the how to implement it question has prevented me from doing so.
Its pretty fucking obvious that emulators are in use, that said, should there be a "how to" section at the end of the show explaining how to get certain emulators to work? (for obvious reasons, where to get, or how to create ROMs will not be discussed).
Not limited to emulators, but expanding into the modding of handhelds (PSP -what I use-, DS/DSi, iPhone), consoles (Wii homebrew, 360), and other gaming related hardware/software.
Im thinking what is discussed should have its own FAQ page as well (since some people follow written directions better than spoken).
Also, i think it would be good to allow listeners to submit their own how-to's on items we might not have a clue on (and get a free plug in there too!).
Let us know what you think
Derek
It’s being worked on! I promise!
I'll even prove it!
It could go faster, but as you can see, Amanda's track requires a lot of cleaning up. (not complaining Amanda, it is what it is).
For my fellow editors out there, Version 1.3 of audacity is available in Beta form. I find it leaps and bounds better than 1.2. Especially the .m4a support (requires plugin).
Sometime this week
Episode 20 will be out sometime this week.
Now that school is over with, i can finally get to finishing the show instead of incremental analysis, capital budgets, or pricing decisions.
Show 19 is recorded
After many failures we have finally recorded part two of ff3.
Given my track record In keeping with deadlines, all I will say is this. It will be done when it's done.
